Tuesday 27th January 2015

It was a busy week for U13 Gone Wild who had their 2 final games in the round stages of the Scottish Youth Cup.

First up was a home game against Broomhill 1 on Tuesday 27th January. Broomhill are one of the top junior clubs in the country and so the girls and coaches knew that this would be a tough match. The first quarter was very evenly matched with both teams taking time to settle into their game. The first quarter ending 4-3 to Gone Wild.

No changes were made going into the 2nd quarter as the squad had only just begun to find their feet towards the end of the first quarter. This quarter saw a much more composed and fluent period of play for Gone Wild with the defensive trio of Iona Greig, WD, Holly MacPhail, GD, and Anna Sherry, GK, intercepting numerous Broomhill balls. This allowed Rachel McAuley, C, and Lia McGrath, WA, to easily find their spot on the edge of the circle to feed the shooting combination of Erin Wood, GA, and Mia Rooney, GS who were converting effortlessly. This quarter was a resounding 7-0 to Gone Wild, taking the score at half time to 10-3.

Going into the third quarter Iona Greig was moved to GD with Catherine Laverty coming on at WD. Gone Wild started off strong taking the first 2 goals. However, a little complacency had crept into the squad with Broomhill eventually taking this quarter 8-4.

Tough words were required from the coaching team at quarter time and some changes to the defensive combinations were made with Anna Sherry moving out to GD, Holly MacPhail back onto GK and Iona Greig to WD. Gone Wild started to find their form from the second quarter and took the final quarter 4-2, with the overall score being an 18-13 victory to Gone Wild.

Squad: Anna Sherry, Catherine Laverty, Erin Wood, Holly Brown, Holly MacPhail, Iona Greig, Lia McGrath, Mia Rooney, Nicola Cosgrove-Clark and Rachel McAuley.
